Anne of Green Gables Giveaway.

My mom is pretty amazing.

She reads my blog on a regular basis and comments (some of you noticed this a week or so ago). She is always there for anyone in her life who needs help. She is always ready to talk things out over lunch, or buy something silly because it'll make you smile, or offer advice when needed.

Yep, she's an awesome lady.

And to top off her awesomeness, she gave me this to give away to one of you...

It is the Puffin Classics edition of Anne of Green Gables. I have the same copy, and let me tell you, it is absolutely adorable. I LOVE this cover!

  1. Ah, always this cruel "You must live in the U.S." restriction! I have never read Anne of Green Gables and always wanted to, but since my mum is pretty amazing too it would be impossible for me to choose a favourite memory anyway :D

  2. Gotta love moms! My mother and I are very close, even though it wasn't always so because we are so different, so I have many memories which are fantastic. I thought I'd write about how we Biked The Drive two summers ago; we rode our bikes down Chicago's Lake Shore Drive as it was specially closed for cyclists for the event. To be under those skyscrapers next to Lake Michigan with my energetic 74 year old mother? Amazing!

But, I also loved when she took me to Paris for my wedding dress. She is the queen of fashion, and she doesn't do things on a small scale. Even if the French are small, and I'm not that tiny! ;)

Thanks to you and your mom for the opportunity to win.

  3. One of my favorite memories was watching every episode ever of the original 90210 with my mom. We were both obsessed and she let me stay up past my bedtime every Wednesday night (at least I think it was Wednesday night) to watch the show.

  4. Aww, this is so sweet. That book cover is adorable. I've never read Anne of Green Gables before, but I've always meant to.

My mom and I are super close. We live on different sides of the country now, but whenever we see each other we always talk and cook together and just enjoy each other's company. I remember when I was in the 5th grade my mom and I both loved watching The X-Files. It came on at 9:00, and she would send my little brothers to bed and just her and I would stay up and watch it together. I know it seems like a silly thing, but it was our little weekly girl time, and it made me feel really special.

Tell your mom we said thank you!

  6. That is so nice of your mum! I managed to read the entire series when I was in school. L.M.Montgomery's books rarely disappoint.

I've only just begun following your blog and I am thoroughly enjoying it especially since my TBR list for 2012 includes quite a few classics. I hope you don't mind but I've nominated you for the versatile blogger award http://wp.me/p10mCk-79

  7. You know how much I love beautiful novels. ;-)

My mom is totally my best friend. Unlike Belleza, Mom & I are so much alike that it's been a tumultuous relationship. Now though, my favorite moments are sharing stories ABOUT my mom to whomever will listen. As crazy as I am, she's twelve shades crazier. (IE she claims she gave me pop rocks when I was two weeks old because she wanted to see what would happen).

  11. You're Mom is awesome! I've loved Anne (with an E) for so long and these editions are gorgeous.

One of my favorite memories of my Mom, (she passed away when I was 14), was her passion for learning. She took us on trips to visit Civil War battle fields, author's homes, National Monuments and more. She would play classical music in the car and we would name the instruments being played in each song. She had flash cards for composers and presidents. It was amazing how she was able to instill a love of learning in me and my siblings at such a young age. I'm so grateful for that.

    1. Ooooh, what a lovely book cover! I've never read Anne of Green Gables. I don't think I even heard of it until I was an adult. Weird, huh?

Two wonderful memories: Spending the night with my grandma, who would read to me for hours after tucking me in. If I want to hear her voice again, all I have to do is pick up a copy of Black Beauty. And learning to bake bread with my great aunt. It felt so enormously special to be learning all her secrets. I miss both of these fantastic ladies so very much.

  12. What a lovely giveaway!
Having my mom with me when I gave birth to my little boy was pretty special. And then the Christmas after that, I wasn't feeling well and was pretty overwhelmed by being a mom. My wonderful sisters got me the most thoughtful, amazing presents and I just felt so loved.

  13. What a lovely giveaway! Thank you Allie and your mum!

Having grown up surrounded by several incredible women, it's difficult to zero down on one specific memory. But I think I'll share one about my maternal grandmother. She *loves* movies, a passion she has passed on to her children and grandchildren. As a young girl she would often take my sister and me out to see them. But she's also the world's slowest driver! I remember my sister and I being absolutely panicked, worrying that we wouldn't make it in time to get proper seats (this was back in 'The Olden Days' when there was no possibility of assigned seating). I swear that on one occasion she was literally coasting the car through the parking lot, in no hurry to grab a space. My sister and I frantically urged her on, but my grandma, being the placid person she is, calmly responded with an 'I'm going. I'm going.' This only served to stress us out even more. However, I'm happy to report that we snagged great seats and still had time to grab some popcorn before previews even began. My grandma proved her point.

  14. As always, lovely give away! Your Mom is such a doll. Sometimes I am even a little envious of the wonderful relationship u guys seem to share. I did not grow up with my Mom (or Dad) and our relationship remains strained at times. I was raised by my Grandmother who actually instilled in me my love of reading. Oddly enough, she was not a reader herself. She has never read a book for herself in my lifetime, but she did read childrens books to me. And even though we didnt have a lot of money she would splurge and allow me to get books from the school scholastic orders. I love those childhood memories of reading together, or doing mad libs together, or playing cards together...

  15. What an excellent giveaway, I usually don't pay much attention to them- but I do have a soft spot for Puffin Classics. My favorite memory with my mother was during my wedding when she helped me get ready. I had about 40 little buttons down the back of my dress and she painstakingly did them all up, and worked to make my hair perfect and made sure I ate enough food. It was very sweet, and she only made me cry once.
