Blogger Comment Issues.

I just wanted to write with a quick comment about the new Blogger commenting system. I have been having problems with it, and I wanted to let you all know-I'm sure there are others having the same issue!

First, when the comments feature is embedded on the page, many Wordpress users cannot comment. The window never appears!

With the new "reply" feature, many blogs have switched it over, automatically making their comments section embedded on the page. Last night I was reading blogs and found that I couldn't comment!  All I see are comments, and no box to add my own. Even refreshing the page didn't work!

I should also mention that I use Firefox-many with Internet Explorer are having the same problem. Later today I might try accessing with Chrome, but I wanted those of you with the new system to know that some bloggers cannot comment!

(I hope this made sense).

Anyone have a solution for the issue? I'm a little sad that I can't leave comments!

  1. After Jillian told me, I switched mine to pop up, which I see you already have... Hmm... I'll have a look in my settings now and tell you what I come up with.

  2. Have a look at this, see if it helps: http://buzz.blogger.com/

Can't help but wonder when I changed mine to "pop up" it righted whatever was wrong. Have switched back to what it was (and asked Jillian to check it when she has a spare moment, and Jillian if you are reading this you are very kind!) and I'll see what happens...

  3. I'm very mystified by the current Blogger comment system. The other day I went to leave a comment on a blog using the new system and it wouldn't let me. I goggled, saw it might be related to my cookie and/or security settings, but since I couldn't find anything to change, I decided to try it in Internet Explorer. For some reason, IE wouldn't even open that particular page (front page yes, so I'm thinking it was some sort of IE bug on my end), and since I still wanted to leave the comment, I caved and downloaded/installed/commented using Chrome. So, I thought it was a blogger issue and since blogger and Chrome both originate from Goggle, it makes sense that it would work there even if not elsewhere... BUT then later, I wanted to respond to the response to my comment and had absolutely no problem using Firefox. Same blog, same embedded comment form. Like I said, completely mystified!

I've been having some problems with OpenID lately, too, but that seems to be a separate issue based on what I'm finding in my Google searches.

    1. The solution that O gives below seems to have done the trick for me. I hope that it helped.

I think Blogger still has some bugs to work out. :/

  4. Oh no! I hope this isn't true for my blog, too. (Care to leave a comment to test it out? I'd be so appreciative! 'Cause if that's the case, I'll revert to the old system. xo)

  6. OK, with the help of Jillian I think I've figured it out.

    So:

    1) Change it to the new interface if you haven't already.

    2) Go to 'Template'

    3) Click "Edit html"

    4) Click "Proceed" and do not let them scare you! (If there's an option to download template, do that - just for fear, as my Gran would say)

    5) Click "Revert widget templates to default".

    6) Save.

That ought to do it :)

  9. Hurrah! If you can't leave comments on other people's, that's not your fault and at least now you can tell them how to fix it :)
